Our Company

Background

SCIP was founded in 1997 by Mr E P Mogale and Mr J D Booyens (Snr). Since then, the company has become one of only a few fully black empowered companies that are also a specialist in the upgrading of national roads.

The success of SCIP was mainly due to the combination of civil engineering experience with a liberated socio-economic view. SCIP has been nominated as both South Africa’s Top Emerging Empowerment Company as well as Top Women Empowerment Company in the Consulting Engineering sector.

Our Purpose

South Africa’s future as a nation is closely tied to the environment and how we interact with it, using its space and consuming its resources.

As civil engineers, we are called upon to play an increasingly vital role in the substantial management of these key economic drivers as we strive to ensure the country’s future global competitiveness.

We commit to delivering effective engineering infrastructure that will play a major role in realising a better life for all South Africans.

Consulting Services

SCIP offers integrated Consulting services in engineering design, supervision, management, and technical assistance. A recognized specialist in ‘Township-development establishment’ and municipal infrastructure. Essentially we are problem solvers and always seek the most appropriate, cost-effective and timeous solutions.

SCIP continues to provide an increasingly competitive and reliable service. As a result, a large proportion of business is repeat orders from customers impressed by SCIP’s ability to deliver on time and on budget. SCIP continues to invest in cutting-edge technology in the areas of cloud computing, digital transformation, 3D modelling, BIM interoperability, digital twin reality meshes and drone/UAVs.

Personalized service is a hallmark of SCIP and we believe there is great value in establishing and encouraging friendships with our clients outside of the professional relationship.

Registrations & Policies

The built environment [construction and engineering] was historically dominated by white males – SCIP has taken real steps to change the status quo.

SCIP acknowledges the legacy of our undemocratic past and has actively compensated with the development of policy designed to redress this past. When employment opportunities arise, preference is therefore given to Historically Disadvantaged Individuals. SCIP Engineering Bursaries are all held by black Civil Engineering Students.

Resources

In order to provide an efficient engineering design service, SCIP has embarked on a programme to become leaders in the field of Engineering Enterprise Modelling [EEM]. EEM implies that all engineering design, drawing, quantities, administration, and documentation are linked to the same engineered database of the particular project.

SCIP’s efforts towards empowerment also brings home a nomination as one of South Africa’s Top Emerging Empowerment Companies in the Consulting Engineering sector.

Transformation Plan

As a responsible corporate citizen, SCIP ENGINEERING GROUP actively demonstrates its commitment to transformation and sustainability. SCIP maintains a holistic approach to its participation in transformation activities through strategies that address all the elements of the B-BBEE scorecard. As a consulting engineering firm, the company subscribes to the Construction Sector Charter. Currently SCIP is rated a level 2 B-BBEE contributor which is testament to the commitment of the company to transformation. This report outlines the company’s strategic plan to transformation.
